Rabbi Andy Shugerman and Tom Sudow received this email from Nechama Namal, Director of Philanthropy of Woman of the Wall:
Today in Jerusalem, Women of the Wall sponsored a booth for the Worldwide Wrap. We encouraged women to learn the proper way to wrap tallit and tefillin and how to add a new and uplifting dimension to the prayer experience. 15 women wrapped for the first time. Some cried as they recited the blessings for the first time. They felt empowered to perform a ritual once thought
prohibited to them. We are grateful to FJMC for the opportunity to participate in this terrific annual event.
On behalf of the Staff and Board of Women of the Wall, we send our heartfelt thanks for your support of our mission to achieve gender equality and religious pluralism. Photos from their event on Yafo Road, the pedestrian and light rail street in Jerusalem, can be found on the Women of the Wall Facebook
page. |
