Do you still want to have “hospitality” at a club event, retreat or convention or just have an evening of schmoozing? Try this Kumospace.

“Kumospace is an immersive group video chat tool. Its virtual spaces combine the fun and creativity of video games with the simplicity and security of video conferencing.” Rather than interfaces like Zoom, where everyone is part of the same conversation, with Kumospace, you enter a room where you can move around and talk to people in small groups. You can only hear and converse with people who are close to you in the room. So you can sit at the bar and chat with a few guys there and then you can move over to the piano and listen to some music with some other people. There are various venues and room configurations to try. 

Some caveats: This is a new program so there are likely to be growing pains and this only works on the Chrome browser.

Looking for a COVID safe club activity?  Try these virtual escape rooms.  There are a variety of adventures to choose from. There is even a Jewish themed room. 

These events are fun and easy to plan. The event could be a weekday evening men-only program or a Saturday night couples/family activity (you pay by screen).

Ten percent of the fees will be donated back to FJMC!  Mention FJMC when you call to book an event.

The question I am asked most, as a member of the Wine of the Vine committee, is the why should I participate in WOTV. Why should I promote planting $18/vines. What’s in it for me? What is the benefit? Why should my region or club participate? Read on to find the answers to these questions and for resources to market this program.

Our WWW committee has been hard at work, developing a program option for clubs that are unsure what to do this year due to COVID. There will be a Virtual Program available for clubs and individuals to tune into from home.

The schedule is still being worked on, but items include:

• Learners minyan & Traditional Minyan
• Hearing Men's Voices: My Father's Tefillin - stories of our first experiences
• Tefillin during the Holocaust
• Tefillin found at Masada
• Origin and Midrash on Tefillin
• Today’s relevance of Tefillin

We are aware of the time zone differences of the regions. This program will start somewhere in the 9:00-10:00 am EST hour and due to the streaming methods used, it will be available to watch at your convenience after it has completed.

How are your clubs’ Torch Award applications progressing? Time is moving along and early submissions, which garner extra points, are due on or before March 1st. The graph shows how our regions are doing and highlights those that are leading the way towards winning the new Region Torch Awards. This is a call to action for all clubs!

If you have not submitted an application, please do so to have your region on the Leader Board. And if your region is already on the Leader Board, ensure that it stays there. Torch Awards help our FJMC community by bringing forth and honoring excellent and innovative ideas for club programming. Please do your part. Identify a favorite club program and submit it for a Torch Award to benefit your club, your Region and the entire FJMC.

Due to COVID-19, LDI 5781 will be held virtually on January 30-31, 2021. However, as always, the LDI weekend is focused on developing leadership skills, building interpersonal relationships, learning from our great leaders, and learning from each other.
