Aware that the Pandemic has caused unreasonable isolation for some people, we have purchased and delivered Large Print activity books ( Suduko, Word maze, Crossword puzzles) to the Parker Nursing home so that the residents can be distracted from the loneliness of not being able to visit with friends and relatives. We also purchased Coloring Books and crayons for the children at Cohens Childrens Hospital. It is hard to imagine the mental affect on patients that are not allowed to share time with their loved ones. Letters of Appreciation have been received and attached hereto.
We sourced appropriate activity books, with large style print to be comforting to resident at Nursing home.
We purchased the sticker books, and coloring books for children unfortunately hospitalized in a childrens Hospital.

Self Assessment
We were saddened and frustrated to see how many elderly adult and children we unable to be comforted and surrounded by the people in their lives that mean so much to them. We felt we needed to do whatever we could to lessen their anxiety. Although this was basically a simple program for us to accomplish, we feel the benefits were hard to measure. Even beyond Covid, we intend to do whatever we can for the community to alleviate sadness and loneliness. Once personal visits are allowed we will expand our program to include such visits.
Everyone was on board with this. We had overwhelming support and know that continued support for the future is assured.
Our mission is beyond social activities at East Meadow Bethel Jewish Center Mens Club. We lead by example, we do not just talk about the serious problems of loneliness in Nursing Homes and Hospitals. We though out of the box and made sure the books would be large print for the elderly and the childrens books would be current characters that would connect with the children. The community , at large, is an extension of our Shul and neighborhood. We will always be there for them
