Teruah Blast #002

November 7, 2021

So, we had an AMAZING virtual convention in June of 2021 when COVID shut everything down.  Yes, it was great.  Yes, the programming was awesome.  Yes, the (virtual) camaraderie was wonderful.  BUT, wouldn’t you like to spend time in-person with your FJMC brothers?  Have we got an event for you!

Under the able leadership of Danny Mandeau, the FJMC is putting together our first in-person event: A Shabbaton in Los Angeles.  The FJMC has not had a large-scale international event on the West Coast since the Convention in 2011. Heh, isn’t it time  to  visit your family in California this spring!

In March, the average temperature in Boston is 46°; the average temperature in New Brunswick, NJ is 50°… in Toronto? Forgetaboutit (40°).

The average temperature in Bel Aire, CA in March?  A balmy 68° with ample sunshine!

Oh, and we’ve got some incredible speakers as well: Rabbi Wolpe – named “The Most Influential Rabbi in America” by Newsweek will be spending Shabbat afternoon with us and talking about the future of Conservative/Masorti Judaism.  Rabbi Brad Artson, Dean of the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies at the American Jewish University will be with us during the weekend as well.  If that isn’t enough, we’ve got plans to visit some of the sights to see (and eat and drink) in Santa Monica, Bel Air, and the greater Los Angeles area.  We are planning a weekend of FUN and CAMARADERIE.  Come join us!

See you in Los Angeles!
