The overall goal of the program was to honor members of the Beth Sholom Community who served in the United States military and to send care packages to any member of the Beth Sholom community currently serving on active duty in the military.

Subsequent to the the Veteran's Shabbat we had four brunches at wich we asked for donations to send a care packages to a member of Beth Sholom deployed to Kuwait. We raised $150 and have sent two packages full snacks from Trader Joes. Each package has cost around $55 including cost of food and shipping by USPS. Packages take around 30 days to arrive.

Self Assessment
The program made the Congregation aware of the numerous veterans who served in the military. Widows were delighted their spouses were recognized and the veterans were thankful to be recognized among their friends at Beth Sholom. Approximatley 125 people attended the Veteran's Shabbat. The speaker was obtained from the VA Medical Center in Philadelphia.
Men's Club earned a lot of goodwill for establishing this program. Sussequent to the Shabbat program, more congregants volunteered their names.
The program caused Jewish men who may not otherwise come to a Friday Shabbat service to attend the servicve and bond with other members of the congregation. They sat around at the Oneg telling each other war stories.
We also help an active duty soldier who is away from his family.
