Giving Tuesday Fundraiser for 2019 & 2020.
As fundraising is always challenging, we looked for a new and easy way to fund raise. During the Fall, 2019, in mid November, we discussed the possibility of trying a Giving Tuesday fundraising event. We felt we had nothing to lose, and something to gain. We decided to forge ahead. Jus before Thanksgiving we announced that the CBS Men's Club was participating in Giving Tuesday, and that we were asking for donations to the club in any amount to support our eclectic programming, and also to ensure that no one would ever be turned away from any of paid programming because of financial challenges. An e-mail was sent out to the entire congregation, not just Men's Club members. Another reminder was sent on the Monday before Giving Tuesday reminding recipients of our Giving Tuesday fundraiser. At the end of that week, we sent a third and final e-mail -after Giving Tuesday, letting recipients know, if they have made a donation, and still wanted to, it was not too late.

Self Assessment
In 2019, the first time that we promoted Giving Tuesday, with relatively little work, and no expenses, the CBS Men's Club raised $754 in donations for programming, and to ensure that no one would be turned away from any paid CBS Men's Club paid event. In 2020, we promoted Giving Tuesday, again. We were fortunate to receive $918 in donations, to be used in the same way as we did in 2019. Like 2019, we had $0 in expenses.
Giving Tuesday has proven to be an easy way to raise a sizeable amount of money with little effort and no expenses. Compared to the approximate $1000-$1200 net, that we receive (after expenses) and a lot of work, this is an efficient way almost the same amount of funds, compared to a more complex program like the Yom HaShoah Candle, which requires the volunteer efforts of 10-15 people and ensuring that very detail logistics are in place. Giving Tuesday avoids all hat, and all monies donated are deemed as "surplus", or net revenue.
Raising these funds allows us to continue to offer eclectic programming and ensure that we have scholarship funds available at al times for people (men) who cannot afford to attend any of our paid programs due to financial challenges.
