The monthly COS Men's Club newsletter is the primary source of communication between the Men's Club membership and the synagogue membership. The contents provide important information about Men's Club events and activities, Jewish holidays and Men's Club involvement, judaica related articles and a monthly "Mensch of the Month" question and answer article.
Ohev Shalom’s Men’s Club is referred to as COS Men’s Club. As an auxiliary organization in the synagogue, the Men’s Club members assist in high holiday ushering, sukkah building and take down, and support for synagogue events. The Men’s Club is very active in planning and holding events during the year for the Men’s Club members, synagogue members and the local community’s Jewish Federation.

The synagogue issues a bi-monthly bulletin to all synagogue members, via e-mail. The bulletin includes a report by the Men’s Club, listing planned current and future events.

In October, 2020 the Men’s Club issued the first monthly COS Men’s Club newsletter. It included the co-president of the club, Dr. Steven Herman, as the “Mentsch of the Month”. Included in the “Mentsch of the Month” article are – 5 things that you don’t know about me and 2 questions posed by the editor. This format began with the November 2020 issue.
The monthly COS Men's Club newsletter is the primary source of communication between the Men's Club membership and the synagogue membership. As well as being the co-president of the Men’s Club, I serve as editor of the newsletter. I ask Men’s Club members to contribute articles on specific titles related to Jewish holidays and upcoming events. I also extract articles written by FJMC members and with proper references, include in the newsletter. An example is an article written by Tom Sudow, current International President, entitled “This Year on Zoom: Next Year May We Be Free”, included in the April, 2021 issue.

The back page of the newsletter lists the COS Men’s Club Board of Trustees and who to contact for membership

Self Assessment
The monthly newsletter has been a great success. Due to the pandemic, the synagogue has only been partially open and no activities have taken place, except for Shabbat services, with minimal attendance. Communication is vital during these difficult times. The club has retained its membership base and added new members during the year.
As mentioned earlier, the newsletter welcomes articles from Jewish men from the club, the synagogue and the community at large. The range of topics gives the readers different viewpoints about Jewish life from the writer's perspective. each month's issue provides the readers a complete understanding of how the COS Men's Club is working as a group and promoting the FJMC mission.
The newsletter is prepared as a Word document and is very easy to format.
