With so much misinformation about Covid-19, the Northern Hills Men's Club wanted to share updated information with our community. To be able to do that, we had two Zoom presentations in 2020
We had an initial program in May 2020 with a Doctor from our congregation who is the Director, Infectious Diseases Division at the University of Cincinnati. The program was titled: "Covid-19 - Past, Present and Future". A PowerPoint program on previous infectious diseases gave background to begin the factual information of Covid-19 and its potential treatment.
Our follow up program in December 2020 included the infectious disease Doctor as well as a Jewish Law professor from Hebrew Union College (also a Northern Hills congregant) who both had an open discussion with the Zoom participants on "Clinical Ethics in the Time of Covid-19". Discussion points included the ethics of choosing who should get treatment when a decision needs to be made between a person likely to not survive due to limited equipment, vaccine, etc. versus one who might have a better chance if given treatment.

Self Assessment
Both discussions were a large success. For a small congregation, we had approximately 120 people watching each event. The question and answer session at the end of each event had a large number of people so that we had to extend each event in length. In addition to specifically a Covid-19 program, this touched on health and mental health. As an older congregation and Men's Club, we were able to attract some younger men that we continue to pursue to join.
As noted, both of our speakers are congregants. The visibility of our Men's Club attached to these events allowed us to be seen as more than a set-up/take-down crew for meals, High Holidays, BBQ's etc. We typically had speakers on a quarterly basis before the pandemic. We did one year of Men's Health. We hope to start again at the appropriate time.
